A human rights-based approach (HRBA) aims to support better and more ustainable development outcomes by analyzing and addressing the inequalities, discriminatory practices (de jure and de facto) and unjust power relations which are often at the heart of development problems.
This article is about the presence of illegal immigrants in EU countries is increasing despite considerable immigration policy efforts over the last years. EU Member States have responded by strengthening their fight against illegal immigration, with different multi-level measures that include the curtailment or denial of social security rights such as access to publicly funded health care
This publication seeks to give visibility to the problems associated with the existing lack of or insufficient access to health care for undocumented migrants in Europe. The report describes the situation regarding access to health care for this population in terms of law and practice through eleven country profiles corresponding to the different member states participating in this study.
